The three alleged kidnappers arrested at a raid on hideouts of criminals by hunters led by Chairman, Adavi LGA of Kogi, Joseph Omuya
Three suspected kidnappers were on Wednesday night arrested in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, following an operation by hunters, coordinated by the Council Chairman, Joseph Omuya.
The hunters raided the hideouts of criminals terrorizing Osara, Aku, Irepeni, Irapana communities along Okene-Lokoja highway.
After hours of engagement with the gunmen, three of them were arrested, while others escaped with bullet wounds during the confrontation.
The raid on the hideout was initiated around 8pm at Aku Farm Centre, when the suspected Fulani herdsmen came to the highway to kidnap people, but were intercepted by the hunters who were on duty in the area.
The suspected kidnappers apprehended were all Fulani herdsmen. The suspects are: Abubakar Sadiq, Abdullahi Muhammed and Muhammadu Kabiru.
One of them confessed on their mode of operation, the nature of sophisticated weapons they use, and the names of other gang members.
The Council boss has handed them over to the appropriate authority in Kogi for further investigation.
Omuya commended the local hunters for their relentless efforts and determination in discharging their duties.
He urged every resident particularly those residing in the farm areas to be security-conscious and provide useful information to the appropriate quarters in case they suspect any suspicious moves or see strange faces in their area.
