Ogun Schools: DPO, three others injured in cult rivalry fight

A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ignatius Alimeke and three students were reportedly injured following clashes involving rival cult groups operating in two public secondary schools in Ogun State.

The bloody encounter, The Nation learnt, occurred on Monday between students of Egba High School Asero and Asero Secondary School in Abeokuta with the rival student cultists feuding against each other.

For nearly 90minutes, chaos and pandemonium enveloped the two schools, which are about 250 metres apart as innocent students and teachers fled in different directions.

The cultists were said to have hurled stones, bottles and other objects against one another.

In the ensuing melee, the DPO of Adatan Police Station, Abeokuta, Ignatius Alimeke, who led operatives to the scene to quell the raging violence, was caught in stone missiles from the cultists locked in a supremacy tussle. THE NATION
