Sunday Erhator

Commendations are in order for Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sunday Erhator, for his professional conduct and restrain when assaulted by a traffic offender, Victor Ebhomenyen, in the Oniru area of Lagos State.

Nigerians on social media have since raised about N500,000 to compensate the officer for staying calm when 33-year-old Ebhomenyen, on Saturday, assaulted him at Four Point Hotel in Oniru and inflicted severe body injuries on him.

In viral videos, Ebhomenyen and an accomplice, Etinosa Obaywana, who is now at large, were seen pushing the chest of Erhator and spewing expletives after the policeman and his colleagues attached to the Rapid Response Squad of the state command stopped a white Hyundai SUV, MUS 251 EH facing their convoy on one-way.

Though armed with his official AK-47 rifle, the policeman kept calm and displayed professionalism amidst fierce provocations by resisting the temptation of using his rifle on the suspect.

Many Nigerians including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have since commended Erhator for his professional conduct and restrain.

Here are five things you don’t know about ASP Sunday Erhator:

1. Erhator is a native of Edo State.

2. He is a Christian.

3. The cop is a father of three – two daughters and one son.

4. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992.

5. He works with the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command. THE PUNCH
