 Education District II honours award-winning teachers in Lagos

Lagos State Education District II has honoured four of its teachers who were among the 12  that won the Lagos Teachers’ Merit Award.

The 12 teachers got brand new cars from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in appreciation of their efforts towards the development of education.

They are Mrs. Ovinuyon Buhari, Mr. Rasheed Bolanle Odenike, Mr. Akindele  Akinbode and Mr. Temitope Gbadamosi.

The event also featured the unveiling of ‘Apata Imo’ plaque, Ramadan lecture and the birthday celebration of the District’s  Tutor -General / Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Anike Adekanye.

Speaking at the event, the TG/PS  praised the teachers for making the district proud by winning several awards and competitions last year despite the challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

“This celebration is a way of re-affirming our confidence in the abilities of our teachers and also to spur them for improved performances while also encouraging others not recognised yet to be more dedicated to their duties,” she said.

She lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unflinching commitment towards the education sector and for rewarding teachers’ outstanding performance.

“Excellence has now become the new trademark of Education District II. I wish to encourage you all to emulate the feat so far accomplished by the district and keep the light burning. We must keep doing well and winning more laurels at every competition,” she said.

Mrs. Buhari Ovinuyon, who spoke behalf of other celebrated awardees, also praised   Governor Sanwo-Olu for his efforts toward enhancing the living standard of teachers and for recognising diligence and hard work.

An Islamic Clergyman, Alhaji Saed Naheem, in his Ramadan lecture,  advised everyone to make  truth and honesty their watchword.

Highlight of the event was the unveiling of ‘Apata Imo’ plaque donated to the district by the Association of Akomolede Yoruba ati Asa
