Unknown men kill RCCG pastor in Aladja
A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Sylvester Yerinbide, was Friday killed in Aladja, Delta State.
The clergyman, who hailed from neighbouring Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri Southwest council, was killed in Udu Local Goverment Council.
Yerinbide was suspected to have been attacked by ununknown men on his way to a vigil in Aladja community.
Some Ogbe-Ijoh motorcyclists, who discovered the dying pastor, rushed him to hospital in the community where he was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has pointed accusing fingers at Ogbe-Ijoh residents.
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Ogbe-Ijoh suspecsed the assailants were from Aladja community, as the victim recounted how his attackers were speaking “Urhobo dailect” on his death bed.
But the President of Aladja community, Elder Otto Ogbiruveta, refuted the claim, even as he said that an internal investigation was ongoing.
The two communities have always been at loggerhead, before the state government brokered peace about two years ago.
Police spokesman, Bright Edafe, was quoted as saying that the matter was not yet reported to the command.
