 Suspected gunrunners held in Delta, 1,000 rounds of ammunition recovered

Police in Delta yesterday paraded two suspects said to have been arrested with over 1000 rounds of live cartridges.

The suspects were arrested in two incidents in Asaba, the state capital, and Burutu  commissioner of police  Mohammed Ali said.

He said while Ogor Mokwe, 28, a robbery suspect, was arrested in Asaba, Solomon Ebe, 37, was apprehended in    Tuomo in Burutu council.

He said Ogor Mokwe was was in possession of 750 rounds of live cartridges, adding that 340 AK47 live cartridges were recovered from Solomon Ebe.

Ali said the suspect was  arrested by policemen on   stop and search duty along Nnebisi Road in Asaba metropolis.

He said when a search was conducted on acommercial bus, 750 rounds of live ammunition belonging to the suspect, were recovered.

He said, “Men of ‘A’ Division Asaba Patrol Team while on stop and search duty along Nnebisi Road Asaba, intercepted a commercial bus coming from Onitsha. Upon search, 750 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from one of the passengers named Ogor Mokwe, 28, from Ajaji Village Illah.”

Ali said both suspects were being investigated.
