Niger bandits get crazier, kill two soldiers, injure 12 others

Nigerian security forces battled bandits

Bandits have shot two soldiers dead and injured 12 others in an attack on Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of the Niger State.

The state’s governor, Abubakar Bello, who disclosed this on Saturday said there was also casualties on the side of the bandits in the shootout.

Bello, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mary Noel-Berje, said the bandits wanted to abducted the emir of Kagara, but that he was not around.

The governor had visited wounded soldiers at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Specialist Hospital, Minna.

He added that some soldiers had been taken to Kaduna State for proper treatment, while he berated activities of bandits in Niger State.

According to him, the hoodlums had affiliation with Boko Haram terrorists in view of their huge presence in the state.

Bello decried that some communities in Niger were harbouring bandits, saying that very soon government would tag those communities as same elements as bandits.

He said if such communities were harbouring any bandits and did not report, they are ostensibly part of the gameplay.

Bello stated that some security personnel had been lost since bandits infiltrated the area and that government would not want to lose more.
